 I and albert is the musicalization of one of the greatest love stories in our recent history, that of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It is also tragically short lived, Prince Albert dying in the prime of his life and Victoria's reign. Charles Strouse and Lee Adams, together with Jay Allen (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie) successfully encapsulate the love story, the pomp, the ceremony, the politics and the family life of a very much-loved monarch in a musical with clever, tuneful and poignant songs.
